Shawn Thornton’s Cuts For A Cause
by Danielle Beaulieu

Every year, players on the Boston Bruins get their heads shaved for the charity event Shawn Thornton’s Cuts For A Cause. This is an event used to raise money for children who are battling cancer. People are invited to come, watch, and bid for the opportunity to shave some of the Bruins players heads. They can also pay additional money for the opportunity to talk to the players. Last year, twenty players participated in this event and the organization raised over one hundred and eighteen thousand dollars. All of this money goes towards children battling cancer.

Cuts For A Cause not only portrays the team in a positive way, but also give players a chance to gain some popularity among fans. It benefits the players because it helps their image in the media, and the organization because they get a lot of donations due to the famous people attending. I think that this is a great organization. It gives fans a chance to get up close and personal with their favorite players, and shaving the heads of the players is a great way to raise money  for such a worthy cause.
